To apply for the ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt without a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is acceptable. Therefore, a Green Belt is not a prerequisite or a mandatory requirement for you to be qualified to apply for the ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt Exam. 

Here are the eligibility requirements in applying for the ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Exam.

Six Sigma Greenbelt: 

• • Education – Any degree, diploma holder, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree.
  • Work Experience – At least 3 years of experience related to one or more areas of the Certified Six Sigma Green Belt Body of Knowledge.  If you are involved in process improvement teams, have performed analyzing and solving quality problems, or are involved with six sigma, lean, or other quality improvement projects, you are qualified to apply for the exam. 
  • Six Sigma Project – You are not required to submit any details of any of your six sigma projects.

Six Sigma Blackbelt:

• • Education – Any degree, diploma holder, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree meets the requirements to apply for the exam. 
  • Work Experience – At least 3 years of your work experience related to one or more of the areas of the Certified Six Sigma Green Black Belt of Knowledge is needed. 
  • Green Belt Certification – Not Required.

Important Notes: 

• • Submission of Six Sigma project details is a requirement, otherwise, you will not be eligible to sit for the ASQ –  Black Belt exam. No affidavits received without an application form and fees will be reviewed prior to your applying for the exam.
  • Affidavits must be signed by a project champion.
  • If the project champion is no longer working in the company, seek a signature from any member of upper management at the company, and if you are no longer working in that company or the champion has moved to a different location,  You may email a copy of the affidavit form to him. Once he has signed, he has to send it directly to ASQ by mail, fax or email.
