How to Protect the Integrity of Your PMI Certification Journey
To maintain excellence, the Project Management Institute (PMI) accords utmost gravity to its certification examinations. It is in response to this that PMI strengthened its commitment to upholding the highest standards of examination integrity following recent reports of malpractices. This article is an all-in-one guide that aims at explaining inner complications and providing you with information necessary for maintaining your PMI certificate’s probity.
PMP® Exam Reporting Changes: A Quick Overview
On 18th October, 2023, PMI made a major shift on how PMP® exam results are reported primarily affecting in-person testing in Pearson VUE centers. The article highlights these changes and their reasons.
1. In-Person Testing with Provisional Score Reports
Candidates sitting for PMP® exams face-to-face (CBT) will receive printed provisional score reports soon after they complete the test; thus, indicating if they have passed or failed.
2. Verifying Scores and Official Reporting
Within forty-eight hours, the provisional scores are verified by PMI who then forwards candidates official scores report. Through this process accuracy and dependability in result reporting is enhanced.
3. Misconduct Consequences
Misconducts caught while scoring automatically lead to cancellation of official score reporting whereby candidates receive notification about this rather than receiving an official score report. If such candidates wish to retake it they have to bear the cost themselves which justifies why integrity must be maintained throughout tests’ administration.
4. Increased Security Measures: Candidates’ Photos Included
The use of candidate photos instead is one notable change done on Pearson Vue center based PMP test’s official score report aimed at enhancing security during exams and promoting their integrity.
5. Differential Reporting between In-Person and Online Exams
Provisional Score reports including candidate photographs are only available for those doing it physically but not those on line as the official records will be sent to every candidate no matter his/her mode of examination (CBT or OPT) within two days.
6. Delays in Provisional Scores for Online Tests: Explanation on Security Measures
In case of online candidates, there is a slight delay in receipt of provisional scores due to different security protocols that are employed here. This is so because before and after the examination there are extra security measures on written tests taken inside examination rooms hence monitoring environmental conditions.
7. Punitive Actions against Misconduct: Seriousness Factor
Thus, PMI holds a right to further punish an individual involved in misconduct up to life ban. The extent of the crime determines what actions should be taken.
8. Explaining Why Provisional Scores Are Not Available For Online Test-Takers
The decision by PMI not to release provisional results immediately for online test-takers is founded on security concerns. In person testing also has controlled and secured environments which make students more confident about result accuracy.
PMI’s latest changes endeavor to enhance the integrity, security and reliability of PMP® exam reporting as it keeps transforming its certification programs. Candidates should follow these policies for convenient testing experience.
