4 Status of PMP:
1. Active Status – You are considered to be in active status when you first obtain a certification. You are in good standing with an active status if you complete all CCR criteria for your certification, including earning and reporting PDUs and paying the renewal money by the cycle end date. Certification holders in active status will be listed in the online Certification Registry automatically.
2. Suspension Status – This occurs when 60 PDUS are not reported after the Certification’s validity period has expired.
3. Expiration Status – Failed to submit the PDUs within the suspension time, you will lose your certification and become inactive. If you let your certification lapse, you are no longer recognized as a certification holder, and in order to reapply, you must complete a new application, pay the appropriate fees, and retake the examination.
4. Retired Status – If you are a certification holder and in good standing and you decide to voluntarily relinquish your PMP active status due to retirement, you are eligible to apply for retired status. To qualify, you must have been a certification holder in good standing for at least 10 consecutive years. Once you are in retired status, you do not need to earn or report PDUs. To apply for retired status, submit a written request to PMI by email at Certification.CCR@pmi.org. PMI will contact you and give you guidelines about retired status and a form to complete.
