How to become a PMI member?
It is easier than most people think to become a PMI member. Of course, not anyone can become a PMI member but the hurdle to becoming one can easily be overcome.

- First, you need to find out your eligibility requirements, if you qualify, then you can proceed to apply for the PMI membership. There are two membership types, i.e, student membership and individual membership.
- To qualify for student membership, you need to be a full-time student at a university or a college.
- To qualify for the individual membership, you need to be a working professional and must have met other requirements which will be discussed below.
- To become a PMI member, you need to have real-world project management skills, education, and experience.

Eligibility Requirements to become a PMI member:
Confirm your eligibility requirements by ensuring that you meet one of the following PMP Certification requirements
Education | Degree of four years | Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma |
Experience in Project Leading | 36 months of project-leading experience over the past 8 years | 60 months of project-leading experience over the past 8 years |
PMP Training | 35 hours of project management training or certification with the CAPM® | 35 hours of project management training or certification with the CAPM® |
If you meet any of the above sets of PMP Certification requirements, you can proceed to apply to become a PMI member.
Note: if you meet other requirements but do not have the required 35 hours of project management training, your membership application will not be approved.
