In this article, we’ll go over the most recent changes made by AACE International in order to help those who are preparing for their certifications.
The Certified Cost Professional (CCP) certification process has recently been updated by the AACE International Certification Board.
Effective from 27 June 2024, candidates for CCP examination will have to write an in-exam memo instead of a technical paper- the major change, including the changes of the exam and membership fees and the domain of the exam.
With regards to removal of writing the technical paper, a lot of professionals who want to become CCP certified are thankful that they removed the requirement for a technical paper because it scared them off. The need to write a technical paper is challenging to many, so this amendment prevented many people from going through with their certification application. What the alteration did was make it easier for everyone and more fair as well; those without good tech writing abilities or enough time now have a chance too. I would say that candidates now have a clearer path to certification, enabling them to pursue their professional goals with greater confidence and reduced stress.
The changes were first announced on December 11, 2023 and these updates were postponed, thereby pushing the deadline for submission of technical papers to June 15th, 2024. Effective from June 27th of the same year, candidates for CCP examination will have to write an in-exam memo instead of a technical paper.
AACEi took too long to effect the changes mainly due to the fact that they had to prepare for a new association management system (AMS) and adopt another CCP exam format. These required a lot of planning and adjustment thus taking more time than expected.
These amendments demonstrate AACE International’s dedication towards aligning their certification procedures with changing needs within various sectors globally as well as promoting advancement thereof.
