Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Requirements

Six Sigma Black Belts are employees who spend some of their time on process improvement teams. The Six Sigma Black Belt certification requires three years of work experience in one or more areas of the Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge.

Examination
Each certification candidate is required to pass a written examination that consists of multiple-choice questions that measure comprehension of the Body of Knowledge. The Six Sigma Black Belt examination is a four-and-a-half-hour, 165-question exam, and is offered in English only. 150 questions are scored and 15 are unscored.

ASQ certification examinations are delivered by ASQ’s testing partner, Prometric. The examination scheduling instructions in your eligibility letter will direct you to a section of Prometric’s website, where you can select and schedule your examination date and location. Examinations are conducted Six times a year, every alternate month starting January 2017.
