A Certified Cost Professional is an experienced practitioner with advanced knowledge and technical expertise to apply the broad principles and best practices of Total Cost Management (TCM) in the planning, execution, and management of any organizational project or program. CCPs also demonstrate the ability to research and communicate aspects of TCM principles and practices to all levels of project or program stakeholders, both internally and externally.
CCP is formerly known as CCE/CCC (Certified Cost Engineer / Consultant)
This course will provide a detailed overview of the four domains covered in the CCP Examination viz. Cost Management, Performance Analysis, Interfacing with Other Disciplines, and Communication. The first domain (Cost Management) focuses on topics such as annual compounding, net present worth, investment alternatives, depreciation, taxes, break-even analysis cost estimation tools and techniques, and cost forecasting. The second domain (Performance Analysis) focuses on, earned value management metrics, progress and performance measurement, and variance analysis. The third domain (Interfacing with Other Disciplines) focuses on topics such as leadership and management of project people, contracting for capital projects, scheduling, quality management, value analysis, statistics, risk management, and the fourth domain (Communication) focuses on memo writing. The primary objective of this course is certification preparation, hence most of the topics will be taught at the level of remembering, understanding and applying.
Learning Objectives
1. Calculate the feasibility of an investment using various engineering economics tools and techniques.
2. Estimate and measure the progress and performance of a project.
3. Understand the role of effective project management and scheduling for successful project delivery.
4. Understand the basic definitions and terminologies used in the total cost management framework.
Teaching and Learning Methodology
A combination of lectures, discussions, exercises, and cooperative learning will be used. Active learning will focus on discussions based on trainee project scenarios related to the application of qualitative and quantitative methods that will facilitate decision-making in project management problems in both the local and international contexts and assessed through standard structured response questions. Finally, a summative comprehensive assessment at the end of the course will assess comprehension of the core concepts.

The CCP certification is open to individuals who meet the eligibility requirements set by AACE International. Generally, those who have a minimum of eight years of professional experience related to cost engineering, cost estimation, cost control, or other related fields, along with a four-year degree or equivalent, are eligible to pursue the CCP certification. It is important to review the specific eligibility criteria provided by AACE International to ensure you meet the requirements before applying for the certification.

A Certified Cost Professional is an experienced expert who has advanced technical expertise and knowledge to communicate and apply the best practices and principles of Total Cost Management when planning, executing or managing organizational programs or projects.
To take the CCP exam, students must have one of the following. Students should only apply for this preparation course once they meet one of the following requirements.
1. A High School Diploma with at least 8 years of work experience.
2. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, in addition to 4 years of work experience.
All necessary documents pertaining to your education and experience must be submitted to AACE International when applying to take the CCP Exam. For additional information, see the CCP Certification checklist.
To apply for the CCP Exam, you must do the following:
- Complete the Registration Process with AACE International
- Apply for Membership with AACEI
- Complete the Online CCP Exam Application and Submit the Form
- Submit Experience Certificates and Educational Certificates to certificationsubmittals[at]aacei[dot]org in Word Format
After the above requirements have been met, AACE International will review your submissions before notifying you of any additional requirements.
To maintain CCP certification, you must recertify every three years. This can be done by accumulating 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in at least two categories or by choosing the option of reexamination.
The application fee for the CCP certification varies based on membership status with AACE International. AACE members are charged $525, while non-members are charged $690. The resit fee for both members and non-members is $260.
It’s important to note that all fees are due upon submission of the application and are non-refundable. The fees cover the eligibility documentation review and the computer-based testing (CBT) fee.
